I feel like this video is true. We are all too involved in social media and our technology that we are becoming less social, and we are missing out on life. Everyone is too obsessed with being seen as cool or having a good time online that they aren't focused on enjoying what they are actually doing. Kids are attached to technology because they've grown up with it. Instead of playing tag or something they are playing on their ipads or something. I completely agree with what this video said.

What is a 'splash page'? Look it up. Explain what they are and how they are used. Find an example of a splash page in Google Images. Save the image to you computer and then upload it to your blog post. Hint - see below.

A splash page is a page of a website that you first see before going to the main content of the website. They are used to promote a company or a product. It can also be a way to keep your website restricted with making people have to log in to get to the main page. It is also occasionally used as a loading page for websites and other things like that.
They usually have attention grabbing things like pictures or sound and sometimes links to get to the main content page, or it just goes to the main page automatically. It is basically an introduction page for a website.

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is. Do you agree or disagree with the writer?

I think that this is true. He is trying to say that it's not equations and all that stuff that is important in school; it's the teaching of how to overcome adversity. "The main event" of school is teaching you how to handle tough situations and to not give up. I agree that that is what high school should be teaching as "the main event," but I don't exactly believe that it's what all the teachers are trying to teach us. If that is what all teachers are trying to teach us, they are not doing a very good job. I do believe that they should be teaching us this though.

Status update! Tell me where  you are at on your product website? Can you be finished by tomorrow at the end of the hour? Do you need more time? How much more time? Be honest and explain yourself.

I am almost finished with my product website. I have pictures on all pages. I have started going back and typing some information on each page. I have about 4 or 5 of those done. I think I could be done by tomorrow at the end of class, but I'm not one hundred percent sure because I just remembered that I need a reference page.

Welcome back! How was your Spring Break? Tell me all about it. You've been out of school for 10 days so I know you will have plenty to share. Make it good!

It was fine. While my parents and brother went to Mexico, I stayed home the entire time. I watched a lot of Netflix, and finished a lot of Dexter. I also read Allegiant, which had a terrible ending. I baked a little bit. I hung out with people. That is about all I did over my spring break. I mainly just watched Dexter on Netflix. Yesterday, I watched all three High School Musicals that were on Disney. That's what I did over spring break.

Do you like the layout of this project? Have you benefited from your brainstorming sheet? Was it more helpful or annoying when starting to map out your website? Explain why.

I like the layout of this project. I have benefited from the brainstorming sheet. It was very helpful, because I had an idea of what I was going to do instead of just winging it like I usually do. I think it really benefited my website and made my index look good.

After reading below to see where you should be on your product website - are you caught up? What helps you stay caught up in class? Do you like having small checkpoints? Are you behind? If so, what are you going to do to get caught up? What you should have completed so far on your product website:Brainstorming packet Establish folder and website in Dreamweaver Wire frame the site with tables or div tags Create a header/logo in Photoshop Insert and design footer navigation and information Today you will: Begin inserting main content on to your index Think about what is going to keep someone interested on your site Tomorrow you will: Add a drop down menu to your site! You need have a designated placeholder for your drop down menu. Either a row of a column or a div tag.

I am basically caught up. The only thing I don't have is my footer, but after that I am done with my index page. Being able to have days to just work helps me keep caught up in this class. I like having small checkpoints, because they let me know that I'm on track. I have my header, my background, a wire frame and all of my picture and stuff on the index. I just need the footer.

What product have you decided to feature/sell on your product website? Explain why you've chosen this product and remember, the sky is the limit on this project!

I decided to sell water activity equipment. I chose this because there are a lot of supplies so it would be easy to create a fifteen page website with it. I also love the lake and all this stuff so I wanted to do that. There are a ton of cool skis and boards and tubes and stuff that could be used for the website.

What are three things you learned about color theory and web design  yesterday? Go in to detail

I learned a lot about color theory. I learned that you should use a color of text over a different color background can make the text look a different color. I learned to use complementary colors or analogous colors or triad colors on the color wheels. I learned about having contrast, but too much contrast can look bad. I learned that there are like 256 color variations that are on the color. I also learned about CSS and HTML color codes.

What effect can a color scheme have on a website? How can it make a website better? How can it make a website worse? Explain why color is important.

It can make a website more appealing. If the color scheme is good it makes the website look better and you like the website more. Certain color schemes can do certain things to your mind. It can make the website look better and more put together. If it is bad, it can make the website look ugly and not put together.

I learned that PSD files can be edited in photo shop, but PNG files cannot be edited at all so if you aren't done with a photo have it as a PSD. I know some other files like jpg and gif but I don't know what they do. I think jpg is images. I assume I'll learn though.

PSD
PNG

What was your takeaway from this Travel Site? What did you learn that you didn't know before? How will the knowledge of how we built this site help you improve your future websites?

I learned a lot from this assignment. I learned how useful photo shop is and how to do a lot of things with it. I also learned about the rollover images and how to make a one page website which is pretty cool. It can help me make rollover images and stuff on future websites to make the websites better.

How can Photoshop be a valuable tool in web design? Explain.

It can create images that you can use for your website. You can make the image the size you need for the website. You can also edit the photo to add text over it or to make it look better. It makes making all images the same size a lot easier. It is a way to make the website look better and be more organized.

What do you know about Photoshop? Have you used it before? What can it do? Are you an expert? A newbie? Tell me about your background and what you already know.

I don't know how to do a lot on Photoshop. I'm alright I guess. I can probably only crop pictures. I just know that if you know what you are doing, you can do a lot of stuff on Photoshop. I most likely can't do much though.

Think about how a user (me or anyone else using your site) might function and interact with your site. What are some important functional features to make your website easy to work with? How can you make it easier for the user and not frustrating? Explain why this is so important.

A navigation bar that can always bring you back to the main page or to another page. It's important that the navigation bar is always in the same place. It is important so it is easy for the user to move through the website easily and so the user doesn't have trouble finding a main page. If it is hard to navigate it is hard to enjoy the website.

Tell me about your All About Me site. What are going to be your 4 main content pages? Why did you choose those topics? What big plans do you have for your site that is going to make it different and creative?

It's background is purple because that is one of my favorite colors. My four main content pages are my family, my sports and clubs, my activities(things I like to do), and my favorites. I chose my family because they are something to talk about. I chose my sports and clubs because it is stuff I spend most time doing after school. I chose my activities because they are what I love to do during the breaks and summer. I did my favorites because they are important to know all about me. I don't really know what I'm going to do to make it creative, I was just going to wing it.

What are your thoughts on HTML code? Did you enjoy the coding activity? Do you feel like you learned anything? Explain yourself.

I think HTML code is pretty cool. I enjoyed doing the coding activity. It takes longer to code it, but I still think it's fun. I feel like I learned a lot from that activity because before that I had no clue how to code at all, and now I can kind of do it.

Tell me about your three day weekend. How was it? What did you do? Elaborate!

I had a fantastic three day weekend. Though I had a lot of homework, I still had a fun time. On Sunday, I went to the Panic! At The Disco concert. It was amazing. I met a lot of cool people and it was a great concert. My friends got some things signed by the lead singer. Other than that, I didn't do much. The concert made this weekend awesome.

Tell me if you agree with this statement and then explain why or why not. "Images on the internet are 'free game' - if someone posted it, I should be able to use it."

I do not agree with this statement. It's not free game because they are still someone else's pictures. If they aren't yours, you have to cite them no matter what. You can use it, but only if you cite your source of where you got it.

What do you know about plagiarism on the internet?do web design, the internet and plagiarism all effect each other?

Plagiarism is when you take someone else's work and don't cite your sources. It is taking another person's work and saying it is your own. To avoid plagiarism you have to cite your source to give credit to the person who did the work or has the information you found. Web design, the internet, and plagiarism all effect each other because you have to cite your sources when designing a web, so you aren't plagiarizing anything. You need to cite all the information you get so you don't plagiarize.

What do you already know about web design? How it works? Programs you can use? Tools that exist? Anything.

I know that HTML codes are used with it somehow. I know that a lot of codes are involved. Godaddy.com can somehow helps make a website. I know the internet has a lot of websites that each do different things. That is about all I know about web design.
